@beckyb1012 That was her first role. She was great.

She was so beautiful, and sang so sweetly, in the Dorian Grey film. Then she was a fantastic villain in The Manchurian Candidate.. and I never missed an episode of Murder She Wrote. A great actress.

Here's a unique story about Angela Lansbury's family---Angela Lansbury told a story about her daughter falling under the spell of a Hollywood deadbeat. He would pick the girl up from school and get her to steal money and food from her parents for him. Worried, Lansbury moved the entire family to Ireland---The guy was Charles Manson.
“We upped sticks and moved the family to a house I found in County Cork,” Lansbury said. “I was drawn to Ireland because it was the birthplace of my mother, and it was also somewhere my children wouldn’t be exposed to any more bad influences. I still have a house there which I try and visit at least once a year. So I refused all work for a year and simply kept house.”

My daughter and I are both Murder She Wrote devotees. We're both so sad. We guess there'll be no more murders to be soved in Cabot Cove anymore I watch an episode at least once a week on Hallmark Murders and Mysteries.
A role I always remember her in is as the girl friend in The Picture of Dorian Gray. She sings Hello Little Yellow Bird and it's a memorable moment in a great film.

I have seen the some news reports refer to her only as a Disney Legend. She was so much more than that. Her career goes back to the forties..she danced, sang, acted..won Golden Globes and Tony alwards for her broadway career also. She will be missed. Such a talented woman.

As small town beautician Mavis in the underappreciated, rarely shown film adaptation of William Inge's The Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
What a cast! Angela, Robert Preston, Dorothy McGuire, Eve Arden, Shirley Knight....see it if you haven't!

@You were fortunate to see two amazing actresses on stage! If I recall correctly, she and Bea Arthur were friends.
