Right, don't endanger others. It was quite a process to coax her down.
About 16 officers with the N Y C Police
Department's Emergency Service Unit, a team
trained to perform some of the most dangerous
rescues in the city, took part in the rescue /
apprehension effort.
"At first she was being a little combative and
she threatened to push us off, push the ladder off,
but we stayed with her", one officer said.
The woman is affiliated with Rise and Resist movement.
From their website.
Rise and Resist is a direct action group committed to opposing, disrupting, and defeating any government act that threatens democracy, equality, and our civil liberties.

And her act of climb on the statue was for what exactly?

Personally, I would have left her. She got up there, she could get down - eventually.

If you have read the news you would know what she said the reason was.
What my post was addressing is the platform of the Rise and Resist movement. I wasn't speaking about her particular action.

It’s not the first time people have protested at the Statue of Liberty
and it probably won’t be the last.
Endangering the lives of the first responders?
Yes, it was a challenge, but they train for this.
I would hate to think all the people saying to ‘leave her there’
probably have the same mindset when people try to commit suicide
by jumping off bridges/buildings. First responders risk their lives
to save the lives of others every day.
‘..they have better things to do’...maybe trying to save the life
of a dude who had too much to drink & blew his finger off with a
firecracker? Or transporting bodies to the ER when a drunk driver
was going the wrong way on a highway? A first responder will
help someone without judgement...too bad the Public doesn’t
understand that simple thought.
She risked her life for a noble cause.
I have to give her a slow clap.
And for costs? The line forms to the left to help.
Lots of people are lining up to help her & her cause.
Thank you for your perspective. I look at the focus of the protest and the outrage at this young woman, and I wonder about where we are going as a nation. It's kind of a vigilante "justice" emerging out of a false equivalency, but hey, we all have our perspectives and our prejudices.

koumou has a long history of pursuing anti-discrimination campaigns.
In 2003, she unsuccessfully filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit, claiming racial discrimination after she was fired from a battered woman's home.
Four years later, she unsuccessfully filed a human rights complaint against a group home in Staten Island for racial discrimination.
And in 2009, she won $1,500 off a towing company, County Recovery, after she accused an employee of calling her a racial name and saying she should be shipped back to Africa,
She sounds like a pain in the a$$. One of those negative people who put all their energy into looking for something to complain about.
