We got a new dog today. She a Cairn Terrier (mix??) and weighs approx. 22 lbs.

We had to put our 17 y/o Maltese down a few months ago and the house is just too quiet and lonely w/o her. The spookiest thing is, we keep seeing flashes of white and jingling sounds from her collar every time we walk around the house.

We have been going to look at "rescues" for the last couple of weekends and today I hope we found the right one.

Every weekend, different "rescue" groups show their dogs/cats at the local PetSmart and PetCo and my husband was looking for THE ONE..... I hope he found it in "Mandy".....

Her story is - she was found somewhere in Kentucky by some people who kept her for a couple of days and then turned her in to the pound. The Rescue people took her and one of the women is keeping her and a few more, at her home very near where we live. She said when she got her, she was covered in fleas and ticks and they cleaned her up... She has all her shots, and is microchipped.... They are getting her spayed this week and will call us when she is recovered.......

She seems to be a very sweet dog and very timid today... Her tail was tucked down the whole time because they said this was the first day she is out among other dogs and people... She didn't seem to mind the other dogs but was skittish around other people, except for the woman who was keeping her in her home... Then, she perked up, so we think she'll be just fine when we finally get her home....

We'll probably have her home by next weekend, hopefully.
