@bikerbabe
Same here. Mine was mean and abusive. My sweet mother got us out quickly before any lasting damage was done to us children but she paid a high price.
You are right, it colors your outlook on even social drinking.

Re: Wine, wine and more wine...

 I am a woman that enjoys a glas of wine from time to time in a social setting. A few weekends back on Sunday after church. I went to a winery with  a few friends. We had good food, wine, and a good time.

It's only a problem for people who drink in excess.

I enjoy a glass of white zin before and during din.  I'm though then.

A lot of celebrities are diversifying by selling.  Including having their own vineyards.

Sometimes I think I'm the only middle aged woman who doesn't even like wine.

Re: Wine, wine and more wine...

I, also, was surprised by how many celebrities have wine lines now!  It must be very profitable or they wouldn't do it!  I knew Kevin O'Leary was big in to wine, but the rest of these names I did not realize.  I used to watch Valarie Bertinelli's cooking show and I saw that she had her own wines.  I have never tried any of them.

I occasionally have a glass of wine, but it's rare.  When DH and I have gone out for a nice dinner, I will have one.  I am always shocked (I shouldn't be) by how high a glass of wine is!  I don't understand why a glass of wine is higher than a mixed drink?

I have bottles of wine still at home but I can't remember the last time I drank wine at home.  I see no problem with people enjoying a glass of wine.  Everything done responsibly and in moderation!
