I updated to Win 10 from 8.1. So far I'm happy. I adjusted the security settings to my liking and I'm truly happy to be rid of 8.1.

Fortunately, the update only seems to cause the endless reboot on computers that have specific Nvidia drivers and settings left over from previous installations of Windows. Your odds of running into this problem aren't high.
Obviously, Microsoft needs to tweak the update code so that failed updates don't try to install again right away. Hopefully, that will be coming soon.
A lot of people have Nvidia drivers especially high end pc's that gamers use. My old Lenovo had Nvidia drivers (Win 7) although I never played video games....it just had really good graphics.

I always wait a while before installing new programs .... they will need time to work the bugs out of it.

A Windows 10 update that arrived over the weekend is causing endless reboots on some users' computers. Unfortunately, thanks to Microsoft's new way of handling updates, it's almost impossible to avoid and very hard to fix.
In its new Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft decided to make security and system updates install automatically when they become available. This move was aimed at people who never update their computers, which leaves them vulnerable to viruses and other threats. So, it was supposed to work to everyone's benefit.

I read the same words on Kim Komando site. The author of this article offers suggestions of what to do. http://www.komando.com/happening-now/320268/windows-10-update-is-crashing-computers
It seems to me, if one is upgrading an OS all drivers and window updates have to be current. This gives a greater chance of a successful install of Window 10.

I started having reboot problems, among other things, last night. How or where can I check to see if the Windows 10 update has automatically installed on my computer?
Where do I check to see if I have a Nividia driver?
Thank you!

I'm sorry you said just the windows 10 update. I would look under settings update and security. I'm showing now that windows is going to install an update at 3am tomorrow morning unless I change the time. I think you could search your computer for the drivers. When a long time ago my computer kept rebooting I had virus and I hope you don't have the problems I had because it was hard to get on the internet when it kept rebooting. I would try to do a security scan.

Open control panel. Click on Administrative Tools. Click on Device Manager (on the left at the bottom of the System Tools section). Locate Display Adapters and click on the > symbol. There will be a list (likely only one item) that will show the name of your graphics controller. Highlight the name, right click and choose update driver from the menu. Windows will search for an updated driver.

I did the download and lasted two days before taking it off and going back to my 8.1.....I hated it.

My laptop cannot be upgraded to Windows 10, and now I have another reason to be happy about that. In my 20+ computer years, I haven't had an easy upgrade and both Windows and Apple products are included in my personal experience.
I'm close to ready for a new computer and just holding my breath to get through the next few months on this one. I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't like to take money out of savings for ongoing expenses, so before I buy, I hope to save the $$$$ to pay. By then, I should be able to find what I want with a current operating system and maybe after the holidays, there will be some bargains. Hope so.
