I'm glad that i didn't reserve a Windows 10!!

I also noticed the icon is gone to reserve the copy now.

@betteb

+@viva

Husband is an 8.1 Windows

I purchased Windows 7 refurb in December.

I love Windows 7.

I do think that his newer, very compact (too compact if you ask me) connects to the internet with a stronger connection (so the newer in this case is better).  My iPad Air has a stronger connection than his older iPad... and mine often "kicks him off the air" so to speak.

I've been thinking about buying a new computer and was wondering if I should wait.  Looks like wait it is.  I hope they clear up your issues soon!

I would only wait until most new computers have Window 10 installed.

@lovescats  ,I updated yesterday(7/29) and tried today to go back to crappy 8.1.  In some info today, there is NO WAY TO GO BACK. Rewad the tiniest print you can find. They told us in there somewhere? Once you UPATE you cant DOWNDATE.  You are right!!! EVERYTHING has to be MS, OUTLOOK, BING.  Games dont want to work, very frustrating.   Fingers Crossed for some nice plain old folk computer.

My advice is don't update.  Microsoft doesn't want anything on your computer that isn't microsoft.

Itunes right now is not compatible with windows 10.

I'm assuming that they will have to fix itunes compatibitly sooner or later.

I downloaded the chrome browser again  so I got all my online bookmarks back.   And of course I had forgotten my google password and had to go thru verification again.

It says you can go back to your old operating system within in a month but I honestly don't think I'll be able to.  My biggest issue is the itunes.

But I can only say I was dumb to update.  I requested a call back yesterday from microsoft and the soonest is friday afternoon.

You should post your problem with iTunes on Apple's support Forum. Everyone has the same problem. Apple will fix the problem in their own sweet time, but you have to complain.

Here is a link to a Microsoft forum that may help.

Question for those that have said the windows icon is now gone.  Have you looked at Windows Update (from control panel) to see if Windows 10 downloaded and is ready for installation?

After the upgrade all of my former settings remained.  Firefox was and is my default browser; Thunderbird was and is my default mail program.  I am successfully running programs that I've used since before XP without problems.

You had to reserve your copy if you wanted the upgrade.  I didn't.

I decided to buy a MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago. I have never had any luck upgrading a PC. I didn't want to fool with it and needed a new PC anyway.

If I was to get a new PC to replace the old Windows one I have I would go to Costo and get one with Windows 10 already loaded.

Marp, I had the same experience you had..  All my former settings have stayed the same and Chrome remains my default browser.  My e-mail, documents, photos, etc. remain accessible without problems so far.

Since installing last night I have put programs through the wringer without a hitch.  I've customized a few things, particularly the start menu.  Wasn't sure how I would like the tiles in the right column but they don't bother me at all.  I even set them up the way I wanted and uninstalled several apps that I knew I did not want and would not use.

All-in-all I'm very happy with the upgrade.  I'm just hoping when I configure my new laptop with Win 10 installed I'll be able to install the programs I want and set up everything up to mimic this laptop without any problems.
