@Cats3000, and yet again with that darn med. Do you have stock in it?

Not sure who they're going to listen to if they don't want any of the experts' advice

If anyone is wondering why your neighbor keeps having big parties and people coming and going from their house and why that one person stood too close to you and breathed on you at the store. The above is why. There are people among us who don't accept credentialed experts or follow their advice. Because they just don't feel like it. And that is why this is going to take a very long time.

Re: Will You Leave Stay At Home

I'm in SC and our stay at home order just took effect this week and we aren't to peak until around April 25.

Since hubby has an underlying condition, we are in no hurry to rush out the door. And, we are a tourist state, so I'm sure visitors will be coming in to vacation.

Very few in my community are social distancing - they are out and about in groups or standing by someone's house in groups. And, today there was a group of kids playing basketball.

And, I was surprised to see a visitor's car in a neighbor's driveway today and it had NJ plates on it - I was under the impression that NJ at a stay at home order which I would not think included traveling.

I'll be out there too!  I will continue to scrub my hands, avoiding touching my face and sanitizing the heck out of things.  But I'm not going to stay home! I can't wait til the casinos open back up.  I will take my sanitizing wipes and scrub down the machines before playing.

Oh, and I am not going to shake hands ever again.  I hated it before, now I'll just say "Nice to meet you, sorry I don't shake hands anymore since the Covid days".  LOL

Re: Will You Leave Stay At Home

I'm not so sure at all that ONE DAY we can all presume that we are safe. It's an arbitrary line. If we don't remain vigilant, we'll be back at the beginning again. And at that point, I bet people will not be as willing to follow any mandates.

I think so much depends upon the person. My husband and I are in the vulnerable group, so we would still limit our outings to the essentials. But our lives are also under the control of those all around us.

Probably will go out for just necessities between now and Memorial Day. The only optional place I'll visit is a wine shop and a garden center! Amazon and an occasional QVC purchase will get me through Spring.

Should mention we have planned a vacation for the last week in July. Hope the world has been given the all clear by then.

I think it's nutty to think that we can just go back to hanging out in groups of people again when "stay at home" is lifted.

Re: Will You Leave Stay At Home

There's a scene in Top Gun where one of the characters says "where'd he go?" and the response is "where did WHO go?". That'll be me. I can't wait for this to be over. Michigan's "stay home, stay safe" has been extended to April 30th. That makes sense to mesh with the end of the national "30 days to flatten the curve" initiative, but as soon as it's over, I'll be out the door in a flash.

Flatten the curve means only that it gives more time to hospitals and everyone involved in treating us to have more time to prepare.

@suzyQ3, not only that, but Dr. Fauci is the one doctor in the entire country they sent the nurse from Dallas that had contracted Ebola to for treatment.  And he successfully treated her and she is alive today because of him and the protocols put in place by Dr. Fauci.

Not to mention that most really revered infectious disease docs in the country including those in Nebraska and Emory trained underneath him.  Many of the docs that work through Doctors Without Borders have worked under Dr. Fauci as well.

His credentials are fine and those that have an understanding of infectious disease and epidemiologists understand that.  This is just noise from people that want to put up a smokescreen and caste blame about something they don't really know or they know better, but they have a particular agenda to push.

I also think that many don't understand that one article which identified some success with hydroxychloroquine was not accepted for publication in peer reviewed journals.  There were problems because the docs did not identify what happened to the 6 other patients.  They did not include that 3 of the patients ended up in ICU (one died), 1 dropped out of the study because of severe nausea, and 1 ended up actually testing negative on 2 different occasions for coronavirus.  Makes anyone question if they had someone in the original group that didn't even have the coronavirus, if any of the other patients did.  These are the types things that make these small sample studies really problematic & they certainly aren't scientific.

And any good doctor or epidemiologist knows that, which is why they want to see clinical trials.  Too late when you make a large scale recommendation for treatment that ends up killing people that would have otherwise survived.  No one wants that, do they?
