Let the Academy decide his punishment and be done with it, after 2 solid weeks of constant headlines about this, with everything else that's going on is mind boggling to me.
How many people of Ukraine have died now? We need to watch our own back with Russia.....
@KingstonsMom 2 weeks of constant headlines about what? The Oscars was 5 days ago.

His behavior was totally unacceptable. He was asked to leave the theater but refused. Had someone else walked up and slapped the host, that person would have been removed.
He resigned....big deal!

@GenXmuse He won't be able to vote, participate in Academy events and, of course, not be invited back as a presenter.
Not much in my opinion but his biggest problem is us and if anyone will invest in him as an actor anymore. If we won't watch his work, his high pay days are over.

Does anyone else think this whole drama has sexist connotations? I do.

Just asking: the guy who shot a coworker dead on the job, Alec Baldwin, what all has he resigned from?

What resigning from the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences means.
Cinemablend wrote Will Smith resigning from the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences means that the actor can no longer vote at the Oscars. However, he can reportedly still be nominated, attend future Oscar ceremonies and keep the award he won for King Richard. We’ll have to see how The Academy’s review concludes the situation in a couple weeks for a final resolution to the incident.
The Hollywood Reporter and Page Six wrote that “Smith’s resignation means he can no longer vote for the Oscars—but he can still be nominated for future Academy Awards, attend future ceremonies and keep the statue he won. But the Academy’s formal review will continue.”

Even Whoopi Goldberg who is a governor on the board of directors for the academy awards said publicly, on air, that was a LIE by the academy.
She said she heard the producer of the awards ceremony tell security backstage NOT to remove him and told Will that the academy wanted him to stay for his award.

I did not mean to create a duplicate, @ECBG
You know how title suggestions pop up when you begin to type?
Sadly, nothing showed up this time.
My apologies. 😢

1 week vs 2 weeks, BFD, I'm still sick of hearing about it ad nauseum, I just don't care. IMO only Chris, Will and the Academy should really care.
