Spectrum had an outage about noon, and everything just came back on. I'm embarrassed at how much I missed it, no matter what else I did , took a walk, read, made dinner, I kept looking longingly at my IPad. Maybe I should cut down on my screen time. Maybe tomorrow, after I catch up on all that I missed . 😂

ipads and tablets can be connected to your cell phone account if you have one......they will work on their network (great if your home services go down) as well as your spectrum network. a smart phone can also be used as a hotspot for your ipad.

@QVCkitty1, you can use your phone as a Hotspot. Just go into Settings (on your phone), Cellular, Personal Hotspot-turn on. This is for an iPhone, not sure what you go into for an Android. Then go to your iPad, Settings, wifi, your phone hotspot should be a choice. Especially useful instead of using a public wifi, too.

We went on a trip to a remote site and had no gas, no WiFi AND no cell service for the day.

I had always heard about no cell service, but yikes the reality is stark.

And no restaurant........

I admit it. I'm addicted to my device. I even carry it into the bathroom with me. The internet is an integral part of its use, so I'm addicted to my WiFi too.

Re: Wi-Fi withdrawal

[ Edited ]

I have a battery backup device made just for power outages. My wi-fi router and my VoIP phone is good to go for 72 hours without electricity. The thing is called a UPS or uninterrupted power supply. Basically a big battery. I bought it after I lost power for almost 4 days. Gives me peace of mind.

This is the UPS I have. It's about the size of a small computer tower and weighs about 30 lbs. You can recharge your phone, tablet whatever using this, too.

CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS System, 1500VA/900W, 12 Outlets, AVR, Mini-Tower

Just plug in your laptop or whatever into the backside and it gives it power for 3 days.

If you have wi-fi then you need this.
