Re: Why is this saying offensive?

I think the saying 'Happy wife, happy life'  is true.   And vice versa.  Happy husband, happy life.   Nobody wants to be around a grumpy hubby, lol.  'All in all', it's not offensive (to me), imo.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Why is this saying offensive?

Actually, I'd prefer 'Yes, dear' attitude instead of a continuous bantering/d*vil's advocate type of situation.  That can be annoying, too.   Being half-way pleasant is a 'win-win', imo.

I don't think it's offensive.  I do think the fact that if the wife isn't happy and everybody else will be miserable because of her is misguided.

Wow 46 answers in just a few min. but yet none of them explain why this saying is so meaningful as to reach the level of being offended by it.

I use this saying to end spats with my DH all the time - when I just don't want to spar with him over something I say  Remember, happy wife - happy life or sometimes "You still haven't learned - happy wife , happy life." He'll usually say - I GOTTA come up with a something about happy husbands !

Maybe happy life, Happy Housewife would work. Nah.

I don't find it offensive, but I'm really tired of hearing it. I'm also sick of hearing the expression go big or go home.

That saying go big or go home is offensive to me, I hate anything big.

Re: Why is this saying offensive?

Its just a cute joke and/or saying.  People get offended anymore at anything.  Its real tiresome and makes one afraid to talk to anyone.  What a shame.
