Why is it that so many posters here think....

that they just MUST have the biggest, newest or most expensive of everything? From major appliances like laundry sets to jewelry or makeup ? I was raised to believe that we should try to save money when ever possible and my Mom must have taught me well because when I have a choice of buying top of the line , most expensive anything I do not automatically jump on that bandwagon. I research and look into what I can get that will do the same thing only for less money. Of course , if only the most expensive will do - then that's the one but more often than not I find I am perfectly satisfied with something that is less pricey. For instance - my neighbor just traded in her perfectly good refrigerator for one of the freezer on the bottom French door ones in SS.It was thousands of dollars - she rarely cooks at all, admits she eats out every day. so , I asked why she needed a new one and she answered that it looked nicer than the old one and she is in process of looking for a new stove, microwave and DW as well because she doesn't think the builder grade ones that are here were "nice enough". I left there puzzled at the total waste of money. I asked what she did with the old one and she said the appliance store took it on trade in, so she got some off on the new one. I often am puzzled at things posters here buy when they admit to not actually needing them, or the people who say they donate clothing that still has the tags on it. I just don't understand it.
