Why don't old rock stars quit while they're ahead?

It is really excruciating to watch some of the old rock stars perform on stage. I have tried to watch a few minutes of PBS shows, when they have their reunion of old rockers. Many of them look just plain silly singing teenage songs. Some try to appear se*xy and just come off as creepy looking. A few have had so much work done that they look like different people.

Is it a question of vanity? I saw Paul McCartney perform on Saturday Night Live and he sounded like a howling dog! It was painful to listen to. He has so many millions of dollars, so he doesn't need the money. {#emotions_dlg.scared}
