Okay, so I am ranting today..LOL
I've been watching the Bethlehem Lights shows, as well as some of the other decor shows, looked through catalogs, watched other shopping channels.............why in the world does every holiday decoration have to be lit up?
Or on batteries yet?
Don't these folks know that batteries are expensive, nevermind a problem for our landfills? And I don't care what they claim, the batteries don't last for a whole season.
I'm looking for a new Christmas tree. Ours has had it after only three holidays. Three years. My original pre-lit tree lasted me 8 years. Somehow, I don't consider a $200 tree purchase as disposable. Should they not last longer than 3 years? The alternative, a real tree, which means not only the cutting of a tree, but buying MORE (probably) disposable lights.
Let's face it, some of this stuff is just plain tacky...IMHO anyway. For instance...the battery operated lit up floral arrangements.
And it's not only limited to strands of lights....how about all those pumpkins, and snowball snowmen or santas.
This isn't keeping me up nights by any means...but seriously, are battery operated Christmas trees next? I can just picture the sales pitch........all you need is a car battery and you're good to go!
