I do, too. The prices they're facing for homes is ridiculous.
And paying your own way through college is almost impossible nowadays.
That's for sure. The price tag for any type of postsecondary ed is prohibitive for so many.

That accounts for the amount of Susan Graver polyester tops that sell upwards of $50. That's what the QVC customers want.

Did we not have school loans - home loans and car loans as well. This is nothing new.

It used to be, the majority of financial aid was grants and scholarships..money that didn't need to be paid back. Loans only made up a small percentage of aid.
Now the reverse is true. Loans make up the majority of aid. Add to.that the astronomical increases in the cost of attendance, and it's become prohibitive for so many.

And, I might add...
This is in a time when it's more important than ever for our population to be educated and have skills.
I'm.not just talking about four year degrees.
I'm talking about career/vocational education as well.

Either you haven't thought about this, or read about it. Tuition has skyrocketed over the years, it's nothing like when you were in nursing school.
Aside from tuition, there's the cost of living, which cuts an even bigger chunk, no matter whether they're living in dorms or an apartment.
Things have changed in the last 40 years. Those who take out student loans are coming out owing 40, 60 and 100 thousand, easily. Don't even tell me that was the case for you.

I don't know when you went to college but when I went you either got a scholarship or you would have to get a loan. Most scholarships do not pay anything but the students tuition anyway so those kids who have them either have to work to pay their additional expenses or get loans anyway. My DH went to college on a sports scholarship and he also worked the entire time - go to school, play sports and make all your practices plus have a job is not a good life but when he graduated he was debt free. I went to nursing school on a scholastic scholarship and still had to work also to pay my expenses. Very few of my friend's kids who are in college work at all now a days - they just take out loans and then don't pay them back.
Also many times scholarships are only partial and don't even pay your entire tuition.
