Why does BooBoo do this?

Every time we meet, first thing in the morning and all day every day--when my boy BooBoo meets me, I get a very intense inspection. He sniffs me all over, then licks and sometimes nips. Once in a while I'll get a little meow too (Boo's a very talkative cat).

Why me and no one else? He's been with us 6 years since he was a 4-month-old kitten. He KNOWS me; why does he do this? I enjoy the bonding and the petting and the nuzzling, but I wish he'd remember that it's ME when we meet.
