Why do you think QVC's sales are down for the fourth quarter of last year?

I have my opinion, but I'd like to hear others.

I don't know that sales are down.  Where did you get this information?

I think it was due in part to the 'shop-ahead-stategy' which the retailers pushed upon us causing a surge in sales shortly before the holiday season. Then when the end of the year came around, everyone already bought their stuff and were left looking at empty shelves.

Same old stuff and high shipping keep me from spending.

I'm surprised it wasn't more. Same old stuff, terrible cs, and expensive, slow shipping. I've found much better places to do business.

I think people are cutting back in general. Essentials  are more of a priority for many.

People don't have money to spend on items that they can do without.    Inflation has raised the cost of food, housing and other necessities...

like electricity, home heating, etc.

Now the cost of gasoline is high.

People who have a great income are not likely to order from QVC.  They don't need EZ pay and more China junk.

Re: Why do you think QVC's sales are down for the fourth quarter of last year?

@depglass  Can only speak for my family and inner circle:

1) We have enough stuff to decorate our homes so we don't need to purchase any more

2) We have enough clothing so we don't need to purchase any more

3) Necessities have gone WAY up (housing, food, medical care, utilities, etc) that money is going to them FIRST and we are choosing to bank what is left.

4) Stuff is made so cheaply it's not difficult to NOT want to spend money on said stuff.

For us, taking care of our family and our needs now and going forward are #1 in our minds; not buying the stuff that QVC sells. I doubt we're the only ones that feel this way so I can see sales going down if a large portion of their customers have made choices similar to ours.
