Why do they do this?: Thanksgiving

ONE DAY before Thanksgiving, my newspaper has Thanksgiving and turkey recipes all over the place.

Why don't they publish this stuff ONE WEEK before Thanksgiving so you can have a chance to do the shopping, test the recipes, etc.?

Good point.......at this stage they probably should be printing leftover recipes!

I always wonder the same about the Q. having the items geared toward Irish on St. Patrick's Day.  Why not have a month early so those the delivery will be in time for 3/17.

Also wonder this morning why is the line so long at the drive thru at the donut shop the day BEFORE Thanksgiving?  Would make more sense for all day fruit and veggie eating today.  It was a huge line thank goodness I did crave one.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Another dumb thing........our paper puts out a big bridal section  (wait for it)....like first of August!   How about April-May for the June brides?  I've always thought that is the biggest 'twitt' schedule to publish wedding information.

Maybe it would be a good idea to write a letter to the editor about this.  Am sure folks have their shopping done already for their dinner they're fixing.

Agree that this would be the time for suggestions for left overs......

Oh darn! Now you've got me craving DONUTS (I'm a Homer Simpson in that regard, lol)! I probably will give in to it; we have a little mom and pop donut shop nearby that makes the best donuts on planet Earth.

Actually the August time frame does make sense.  If you are planning a wedding you need the time to plan.  If everything came out in April - you wouldn't have time for June.  These days is June still the biggest wedding month?? I've heard spring and fall are becomming more popular.

@beckyb1012  The line is long because people are too busy for breakfast; because they feel festive; because they are getting donuts for company coming; because they are taking them to work for the last day before the holiday; because they like donuts!   Usually the day before a holiday is a day for grab and go for busy people and they are thinking thanksgiving food, not healthy food!   Woman Very Happy

If they are waiting until August to plan a summer wedding for the next year, they will be hard pressed to find a place to accommodate them.

My daughter and her fiance went to 7 venues this past week and most of them were booked up past next November.

They did find a place that was within their budget, met their needs and had the date they wanted but if they didn't it would have had to have been a winter wedding which they didn't want because of weather or wait until spring of 2020.
