Why do teachers go on and on about

how hard they work and how low their pay is.

Really, how hard it teaching? It's the same material year in and year out. Boring, yes but hard, no.

We have all been teachers, training new hires, teaching our children to tie their shoes, to read, and cook a meal. Was it hard, not at all. Anyone with expertise in a subject can instruct another on that subject.

There are a multitude of harder jobs like roofers, construction workers, accountants, even tax paid jobs like those who work for the IRS, Public Assistance, and Child Protective Services work a lot harder than any teacher. What about police officers? None of them are on the BB whining about pay inequity.

Someone posted on the Lisa vacation thread that it's too bad that L makes so much more than teachers make. When teachers do as good a job at teaching as L does at selling then maybe they will be worth what they feel they deserve.
