Unfortunately, all this nastiness and meaness is the sign of the times we live in now. Very troubling and very sad.

Often times it appears to be just a knee-jerk reaction, after not reading a post or clearly comprehending what was written. If I am misunderstood, and it's taking a thread south; I'll try to make myself clearer once, for the sake of the thread.
Other times, it appears to be more personal slams against a poster, or the subject matter. It doesn’t appear to matter to a few that personal insults - just as baiting - are against the standards. A few can’t resist getting a petty dig in whenever possible. A love of controversy and belittling others. Even while praising or supporting someone else. I prefer to just support what I admire, rather than bashing what I don’t, but then ... I fully realize I can only control myself and ignore those who choose not to. Just as in real life.
I didn’t sign up here to be a hall monitor. Don’t need another job. I don’t envy the Mods their duties and I hope they are paid well.

@Carmie @Free2be Good dialogue. Think we've made some headway in communicating our feelings and understanding each other this weekend. @CARMIE and I have usually been on the same page, I think.
ETA: Glad you are more comfortable with me, @Free2be. Our paths haven't crossed much in the past (to my knowledge). Always nice to have additional friends around.

@occasionalrain wrote:When you post a directive like, look it up and educate yourself, it comes across as bossy.
Assuming a reason for another's post is condescending and rude.
Expecting that others should post as you would like is rather pompous and an entitled attitude.
Mean posts, posters are in the eye of the reader and, unless it's name calling, is not really anyone's business but the one who posted.
When someone posts a reply to one of my comments with a snarky, "what are you talking about," you better believe I will tell them to look it up. I will not feel obligated to do the work for crabby people. We're on the internet, YOU can look it up yourself! @occasionalrain

@Carmie wrote:@BirkiLady I too, have told posters to educate themselves. Sometimes people post on subject matters that they have no clue of and give wrong information as the gospel truth.
I get frustrated with them. My father used to say that some people talk to just hear themselves and I feel that some people here do that.
i don't say that to hurt feelings or feel superior, but to hopefully get people to really look something up.
We all need to be educated from time to time. Many posters have taught me a thing or two and have corrected something I posted. I don't get upset. I just thank the poster for letting me know. I really appreciate that fact that they read my comments and took the time to reply. Sometimes I need to educate myself too.
It amazes me that everyone has access to the internet with smartphones or tablets or computers and could get 'correct' information, yet they will post something off FB or from an email......As Fact!
Yes, they need to "educate yourself!" Why would someone be offended to learn the truth?????
Because they do not like to be corrected or called out for an error. Only a mean person would do that to them.

Wish I knew the answer to that lol. I started an innocent thread that i thought Tiffany haddish was funny and it went all wackadoodle. So I am right there with you wondering the same thing.
I saw Tiffany H in a movie on HBO and thought she was funny and am looking forward to the movie Night School. @sunshine 919

@chickenbutt wrote:(bolded by me) This is something I've been saying for a long time, as a cautionary tale, about this board. You can cruise this board on any given moment and find numerous things stated that are patently false.
I usually just end up backing out of threads where lies are stated as truths because it's futile to try and bring facts to somebody who repeats things that are not true. LIke one poster said here one day - they have decided that their opinions are facts. That person was serious when he stated that his opinions ARE facts and that will not change. What do you do with that degree of ridiculosity? SMH
@chickenbutt You could always ask for proof of their statement(s). Why let false information lie around for others to take as fact? That's contributing to their lies and allowing the misinformation to continue. Morally, I cannot do that.

If I ever post something that you know is incorrect , PLEASES feel to correct me! Not just an opinion, facts! I am an adult.

@Zhills Ditto. I also want to be notified if any of my posts are inaccurate. Mom, sister and BIL are Journalists . . . the last thing we ever want to do is write something without reputable documentation to back it up. My reputation has been built upon truth and honesty. Those qualities never fail.
