I never seem to enjoy my favorite season. It's over too quickly. We're nearing the middle of November and winter is closing in. I always anticipate it in late September and it's pulling away.

Sounds like you at least had an autumn this year. We went one day from 80degrees to 30s then 20s in about 2 weeks, no kidding. Temp dropped to the 20s and we've been stuck here since then.
This week coming up they're saying mid 40s for day temps. We haven't hit what they call seasonal temps yet.
Here's what I'm hoping - early winter in November, early spring in January?

Side note - our leaves barely started to change colors or it didn't happen at all. We went from green still to down on the ground due to days worth of high winds, then an ice storm.
Spring & summer are my favs, not at all fall or winter.

We skipped Fall this year too. In early-October, we went from daily highs in the 80's to daily lows in the 30's and 40's. It's sad. I still have some garden clean-up to do and was saving it for Fall weather.

It's my favorite time of year, too. I agree that it never lasts long enough. Long summers, long winters and a few weeks of spring and autumn. Ah, such is life.

We barely had any autumn this year, and zero Indian Summer. Straight to winter. Unusual for this area (metro-DC).

Maybe we get a month of fall then it is early winter until very late spring.
In PA we've had major blizzards this year in April and November.
Have two seasons pretty much winter and summer anymore.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. It's so beautiful when the trees begin to melt into bright, rich oranges, yellows, and reds, dripping their painted leaves to the ground, a glorious quilt reminiscent of our grandmothers' loving handiwork of pieced fabrics, batting and thread, cotton, soft beneath our feet. In recent years, the season grows shorter and shorter, and I fear before long we will join those 2-season areas and we'll wave farewell to the lovely autumn and spring we once knew. "The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go..." as the saying goes... I hope we don't have to let autumn go completely.

@ValuSkr I hear you for sure, same here. We cleaned up/raked a truck load of leaves last Sunday, DH did the backyard Friday in the cold and wind! The last of the veggie vines, gone but we still have potatoes to harvest!!! Not sure after the freezes we've had even what they'll be like now. We got caught out with ice/sleet/rain storm this past week, and we can't seem to get rid of the rain in 30degree temps! Yeah it's c*appy out now, I hate it. HATE IT.

Fall is my favorite time too...and it does go too fast...it seemed this year we didn't enjoy much color...it seemed the leaves were green then more brown and to the ground quickly.....not as colorful & bright as usual....
