Re: Why are posts being removed that do not have anything offensive in them?

I have noticed that it can take 2-3 minutes and some page reloading before the explanations show up - they're not instant. They do appear fairly quickly but not instantly, so if someone expects to see it instantly and then never go back to the thread they think there was no answer/reason given.

So, basically, you can copy one of those messages from the moderators and post them in another thread, and they will poof that thread.

Edited to add: Are you saying that I am attempting to have this thread deleted? You could not be more wrong. All I did was copy a post which another poster had obviously not seen and which might answer her issues. This is permitted. As moonchilde explained, this is certainly not the same as re-posting about a thread that had already been deleted coupled with taking on the mod who did this.

This post has been removed by QVC. Re posting of previously deleted thread."

This appears to be the equivalent of "Don't publicly challenge a moderator decision" - which is also the equivalent of statements in the Rules & Regs of most forums, public or private, that have moderators - to wit: the decision of the moderator is final. Public challenges are grounds for banning.

It's not unusual and not at all unique to QVC's forums.

This is really becoming creepy. The moderators seem to be deleting harmless posts. I posted on community a comment re: Bob Beckel and Fox " The Five " and I couldn't even find my post.

Re: Why are posts being removed that do not have anything offensive in them?

I think the answer may be in what they are calling this area now........Community Chat...........this isn't Viewpoints anymore..........one would expect on a board called Viewpoints, that current affairs and other topical events would be discussed and viewpoints on the event shared.........but this isn't Kansas anymore ToTo.........it's Community Chat........and chat is exactly that.........light hearted, non-topical........well for lack of a better word fluff................so I think if you're looking for the answer as to why stuff is going poof..........all you need to do is look at this forums name, and you'll find the answer.........................................raven

I agree completely as well.

My non-religious, non-political general question about social etiquette and terminology was almost immediately deleted without explanation today.

When I then posted a second thread asking why such a thing was deleted...and without explanation, THAT POST TOO was immediately deleted without explanation. lol

I mean, come on. People are going out their way to be civil and to discuss certain matters on a social, non-controversial level and the posts are IMMEDIATELY deleted??

And again with zero expanation either publicly or privately?

How can one even ask the moderators anything if they DELETE the inquiry???

You must have missed it, because you got an explanation:

Why was my thread on social/etiquette and semantics regarding Marriage deleted - immediately?

Thanks for that info. But that info never appeared on the forums board. I made the post and only minutes later it was completely gone. Nothing was listed or shown on either the public boards or in my list of my posts.

And as you can see, that was the follow up inquiry post I made - after the first posting had also just suddenly disappeared without a trace a few minutes after I had posted that. There, too, was no mention on the forums boards or in my posted comments - or anywhere.

Where it shows up though is under the MOD'S personal comments made list? It POOFS off of the original poster's lists and the forums' board but appears as a post under a moderator's name (as a post deleting it)?

Very odd system.

And again, it doesn't explain the first post either.

And HOW would anyone know who the MOD was on duty when all evidence of the original post/s disappear? I had no mod name to attach the POOF deletions to - to even then look under their name.

How did YOU know what mod it was in order to even look under her listed posts?

There was nothing to look up.

By the way, the reason Brittany gives for her deletion of my 2nd post, the follow up inquiry, isn't completely correct or the point of that 2nd post. It was a repeat or repost of the 1st comment. It was asking WHY the 1st comment had vanished.

In fact, readiing this same mod's reason for deleting the initial post is as follows:

This post has been removed by QVC. This topic may prove too controversial for the forums at this time.

I mean, come on. It wasn't controversial. And I made it clear as I posted that I didn't want it to be so. But they DELETE it's potential (in their own minds) for such? That's pre-censor censorship. Its ridiculous.

But again, if posts VANISH off the boards and aren't even listed any longer under the poster's list of comments made, HOW would anyone know who the mod was in order to look him or her up????

@surfk, the "may" part of that is upsetting - it seems that the mods want to ensure, based on the history here, to n-i-p it in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Since the subject has come up in the last few days, there have been people complaining about the moderation, accusing the mods of being uneven,  while purposely trying to bait and bring down what was a nice thread.

It seems that some posters are getting all riled up somewhere else and coming back to here to assert themselves, wanting to cause issues and problems.  I am sure they give a long, detailed explanation of why a thread should come down in the "report comment" section and I am sure after reading a lot of those complaints on that particular subject before, the mods took down your very civil thread like that.

Heck, I had my funny quotes from Ghostbusters removed.   I am sure that is the same reason.   It seems that some people want this new format to fail by causing constant problems.

This format is not unusual with moderators being in place, removing comments and threads, and posting explanations.   I think we have gone so long without that type of  decent moderation, that it is a shock to us who are not used to this style  - I  think it is a shock to the moderators as well to actually have to read certain comments here and that is why they are currently heavy handed in their moderation.

Biancardi, you just explained it perfectly!

It has been suggested to the moderators that at least a couple of "gaming the system" types of posters are now working in earnest on these forums. Themmods have already worked out the Hearts thing and have taken care of that. Now they need to come up with permanent banning strategies for calculated, deliberate and continued forum disruption.

I'm glad you're still here, and hope you enjoy your vacation.
