FWIW, OP said some things on one of the more "controversial" threads recently that did not sound like Scottie at all.

But, hey, who knows who anyone REALLY is around here?

Whatever.... Get it, don't get it. It's really not that big of a deal. We all make that decision for ourselves. I will always get a flu shot because unlike the nay sayers out there, I actually had influenze and I spent two weeks in a hospital because the flu led to pneumonia and I was very sick for several months after that. The problem with "the flu" is that most people who think they had the flu, didn't. They had a cold or uri, not the flu. But, it's a decision we all make for ourselves.

I have no idea, but I have realized that I've missed seeing Scottie posting. She and I have "agreed to disagree" on a number of things, but I enjoy posting with her, and I haven't seen her lately. Maybe I'm just on the wrong threads...?

I got my first flu shot last year at 64, you may change your mind when you get older, and your immune system is not as good as it use to be .............. just sayin'!

I definitely appreciate "herd immunity" as I cannot take the flu shot due to allergies. I've only had flu once in my life, as a child. Whole family got it and I remember all of us actually having to crawl to even get to the bathroom. Thankfully we all survived. First time I got a flu shot, I ended up in the hospital due to a severe allergic reaction to it.

Very important point here, Softraindrops. The shot isn't just for you, it's to protect those around you which might be elderly or very young. Could be senior parents, grandchildren, babies, people struggling with other illnesses. But it's optional, so for those who don't want it, they aren't forced! I've had the flu very little in my life, but I get the shot.

Some years I get the flu shot, other years I don't. I haven't experienced any side effects or have I had a few bouts of the flu regardless if I have the shot or not.

I'm a hand washer. I have hand sanitizer in my car, so If I go out, I hit it quickly. I don't worry about it. I volunteer in a kindergarten classroom so if I'm going to catch the flu I will. The vaccine doesn't cover every type of flu, and it mutates.
