Thanks for the post! I loved it. I love being retired too!
Making hair appointments at noon, U-Verse appointments "first available," shopping when while most people are at work, and so much more! I love meeting the postal carrier at the mailbox to say hello.
I love being available to help my friends and neighbors when they need it.

@pattypeepOMG did you ever hit the nail on the head! Every day I say to my husband,"it's 4 oclock, where did the day go"! I guess when you get up at 9am and have coffee for 2 hours out on the sun porch and geeze it's already lunch time and then before you know it it's supper time and we don't want to stay out anywhere too late because we don't want to drive home when it's dark. When people ask us what we are doing since we retired, we can honestly say,"just hanging out".LOL

Just moved to maintenance provided patio home in a lovely little valley, near a creek, around the corner from conveniences. 75% of neighbors are retired. The happiest people I've ever lived around. When I say I still work they look at me and say, oh, I'm sorry dear.

We are extremely fortunate. The concept of retirement that many of us have these days did not exist a few decades ago and may not exist for our children and grandchildren. DH and I live our lifestyle, and it is not lavish by any means, because of his generous pension plan and the ability to draw social security funds. Enjoy it while it lasts.

No more diamond hierarchy
No more purse snobbery
No more shoe competition
Should I go on............?????

I'm going to be the odd one out here. I don't like being retired. I miss my job so bad. It was my life and I would do anything to have it back today. But life goes on differently for me now and I have gracefully accepted what has become of it.![]()

Love this thread! I'm semi-retired and the hubs has been retired for 2 1/2 years. When we're not babysitting our wonderful grands, here is our routine: get up at 6:30 or 7:00, have coffee and read the newspapers till 9:00. I work out, then meet hubby in the garden to weed for an hour or so. Decide to wait for tomorrow for housework. Oh, look! It's lunchtime! Clean up, play some games on phone . Wow! Cocktail time....already?! Dinner, nice long walk with dthe dog, tv,, bedtime, repeat. Life is good!

The only problem with retirement is that time goes by so quickly.I have been retired 10 years and we have been in Florida 7 years. It's so hard to believe it has gone by so fast.
