The entire concept of 'giving the bride away', in current times, strikes me as archaic and a bit ridiculous... In this instance, for example, the woman is in her 30's and has been married once already... She clearly made the choice to marry, as most modern women do, and the entire concept of 'giving the bride away' simply doesn't apply. Moreover, the tradition is traced back to the the time of 'arranged' marriages and also to the days when a woman went from being her father's property to being her husband's property... Does anyone really value those notions...? Were I to march down the aisle, I'd opt to do it solo. It has nothing to do with my beloved father escorting me or my dear parents 'giving me away'...

What I find strange is that Harry never met her father. He has the resources to fly to his home and meet him for coffee, even if it's just for an hour. I bet he's kicking himself over that.

I marched down the aisle by myself....never even considered anything else.

I wouldn't want to meet him either. Sounds like he's off his rocker a little bit and I don't think he was in her life that much anyway. Just doesn't sound like a good Father to me!!

Charles stepped in for another bride when she was estranged from her father, so maybe it'll be him, but I think if anyone walks her down the aisle, it'll be her mother.
