Self taught. My friend would throw her car keys at me and send me off on some errand. It worked somehow and I got to drive a beautiful teal colored Mustang. LOL

My dad taught me in a Buick Electra, which was about the size of a small yacht. After learning how to drive that car in the city, I could drive any car, anywhere. My specialty is parallel parking. :-)

I went to Driver's Ed over the summer.
I sent my kids to the same school for Driver's Ed. LOL
I freak out at every little thing they did while they had their permits. It was not enjoyable at all. They're not bad drivers, but there are so many bad drivers out on the roads today. Ugh...

My Dad on a stick shift. Poor guy, he put up a lot with me while learning.

My father taught me in his '63 Chevy. I still remember he told me over and over again to pay close attention to what I was doing and not the other drivers.

@Lila Belle ... I took behind-the-wheel driver's ed offered through our school. My dad took me out to practice. He hated taking me out driving as he did not want to admit I was old enough, so I used to bribe him. He loved popcorn, but didn't like making it. I could make really nice fluffy popcorn (back when you had to shake it in a pan). I'd always tell him that I would make him some when we got back from driving. By that time, he was a nervous wreck and ready to sit down and relax...lol!

Driver's Ed in high school. The three others that were assigned to the same car as me all had previous training with parents, boyfriends, etc. driving on country roads & other places. Not me though....and it showed.....LOL! After our first day in the car, I came home and demanded my dad take me out to practice. I think we went to the parking lot at the high school.

According to my brothers, a circus clown. But they also say I got my driver's license out of a box of Cracker Jacks. In reality, I did have to take Driver's Ed one and a half semesters before I passed.

My dad. When I was 14, he took me out in the old car and we'd go up in the mountains when we were camping. He taught all of us that way.
He also taught me how to drive a manual tranny. I ordered my first new car with a manual transmission, even though I had no idea how to drive one. I ordered the car, then went to my parents' house and said, "Dad, I just ordered a new car. It's got a clutch. I've got six weeks. Help me!" He looked at me, shook his head, sighed, grabbed his truck keys, and said, "Let's go!" And off we went. And by the end of the afternoon, I had it down pat.
