I am loath to bring this up, but it is there before us. .
To my mind, one inhibiting factor to placing Craig Melvin instead of Willie Geist in the Today show top spot would be "you know what."
Perhaps NBC will not be willing to have someone of color bookending the start and end of their newsday. The world is odd, and so many factors feed into choices/final selections.
I just think the person who will do a top-notch job while attracting a strong number of viewers should be selected. The focus should be on those salient points, I believe.
2017, ladies and gentlemen. 2017. That this notion has to be considered, with factual basis or none at all, is morally repulsive. I am not talking about you @golding76, I am talking about this loathsome thought on its own merit (or lack thereof). As we all know, there are many in the viewing public that will feel this way, and call it buy another name.

Caareful Shopper,
Thank you for understanding my point. I agree with you!
It suddenly occurred to me that Frosty Babe does not know how I think or my beliefs, and my observation was alarming and repugnant to her (and perhaps some others who misunderstood my post). I apologize for that, but I thought my intentions and ideals were known. Of course they are not. Unless you've read all my posts over the course of time, you have no idea of how I think.

I stopped watching Today when Ann was moved over to the co-host seat. She was fine as the news reader, but I didn't care for her as host. I don't really care for Savannah either, so I've never gone back. (on a very shallow note, Savannah's hair always looks greasy/dirty to me - I'm sure it isn't, but it sure looks that way imo)
I have watched the weekend show, and Craig Melvin is very good, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved to the weekday Today.
I hope Willie doesn't get it, because I watch MSNBC and he is on their morning show. I don't want him to leave and go to Today.

@golding76 I love Van Jones too so much so that I would love to see him get his own show.

Fantastic idea, skuggles! He gets to the heart of the matter so logically and eloquently.
Sometimes, he just calls it as it is, which is pure poetry to my ears.

I don't know if they have enough money to pay her though. LOL
OH HECK NO....sick of her. Enough already. Not one of MY FAVORITE THINGS.
Maybe you'd be happy with Lisa R.
She can bring her fake hair and sit on her couch.

I like Lester Holt but someone on this forum pointed out that he has some nightly program and the morning show would be a step down. If so, it's too bad because he is so professional, nice looking and dresses well. His voice commands attention. I have not watched NBC in years because I was not crazy about Matt. I still feel sorry for his wife and children causing all this embarrassment. Matt looks like Heckle and Jeckle. I thought that the first time I saw him. ![]()
