You are correct.  She dies as a child in the movie.  Joan Fontaine played Jane Eyre as an adult. 

 

I'm not sure of the identity of the photo though.

 

I read that book over and over again to my dying mother.  It was her favorite book.  And I've seen several movie versions.  It is an incredible story.

 

@maestra @LilacTree Saw that film recently. The one with Taylor.

Enjoyed it, think it was on TCM because I remember a commentator's interesting trivia about the movie.
