This reminds me of a funny story. Many years ago a friend of my Mom was upset after her husband ran off with another woman. I remember her telling my Mom the woman was an Indian and she kept referring to her as Princess Winter, spring, summer ,fall. I suppose considering what had happened that was a pretty mild name  to call her - had that happened to me I know I'd have much worse to say. But my Mom & her  friends were such proper ladies back then.

Anyway - the title to this thread reminded me of that.

This made me think about how women and perceptions have changed over the years.  Back then the wife would blame the other woman.  Today, woman woud place the blame squarely where it belongs...100% with the man.  The woman wouldn't even be an after thought.

Oh don't worry - she had plenty to say about him too.

I meant to say, rustee, I like the way your screen name "rustee" complements your Autumn coloring-- makes me think you might be a redhead...

@Oznell

When I picked the name, I did have red hair.  Now it stands for my rusty joints ~ LOL.  I had blonde-ish hair most of my adult life.

Re: Who is a Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn?

@Oznell  I believe in this theory. Of course, one can choose to wear whatever they are drawn to, but what color we wear has an impact on our mood. I'd gone to one of those color party things in the 80's and still have the color palette. I vividly remember a gray sweater than my bff had given me for my birthday. I loved that gray sweater so much. But when I wore it my mood went way, way down and I never attributed it to the color, but I swear by it now. I have been drawn to the olive color since the 70's (before Gary's olive club`LOL) and now I know why. I am definitely an autumn.

We can all agree that seasonal color theory isn't an exact science.  And now there are even more categories, like Soft Summer and Deep Winter, etc.  But remember, that roughly, Springs and Autumns have warmer or golden undertones to their skin, and Summers and Winters have cooler, "bluer" undertones.

But can you confidently slot different celebrities into their seasonal category?  I'll take a shot with a few people:

Emma Stone--   Spring   (I can see her wearing a sunlit kind of yellow, quite successfully)

Oprah Winfrey--  Probably a Winter?  Yet I have seen her wear tawny colors like light chocolate and burnt orange very well, so maybe she'could be a Deep Autumn?

Sarah Jessica Parker--  Soft summer.

Nicole Kidman--  Spring?  (Isn't she originally a strawberry blonde, mostly red?)

Mariah Carey--   Soft Autumn?

Courteney Cox--  classic Winter, like Elizabeth Taylor, Merle Oberon

Beyonce--  a deeper Spring, maybe Autumn?

Heather Locklear-- Light Summer

Prince Willliam's Kate--  sometimes she seems like a Summer, sometimes verging on a Winter.  But she must be a cool season, her skin and eyes are cool...

This is a hodge podge of people who come to mind.  Some are really borderline, and I'm guessing, b/c they don't always wear the right make-up and hair color for their season.

If you look at QVC,  Nancy Hornbeck (sp?) seems a clear cut example of a Winter to me, and Mary Beth Roe a clear cut Summer.  Some of the others are harder to "read".

Yes Nicole Kidman is a Spring.

I'm a Spring.  I'm not quite as fair as she is , but I have similar coloring.

I have no idea what I am-I have porcelain pale skin with pink undertones, medium brown hair, light green eyes. I like and mostly wear blues, black, burgundy, red and pastels.

Someone recently gave me a limey green light weight wrap sort of microfleece sweater/coat and insisted it would look good on me because I'm an autumn. I like the coat but I think the color looks pretty awful on me. It's not too lime its more like a darker apple green-but I can't wear lime, orange, yellow.

@Greeneyedlady21 Go outside, put your arm out, palm up, and put a piece of white paper next to your inner forearm. If your arm shows a yellowish cast, you are a "warm" , if it shows a "pinkish" cast you are a cool.

I don't even have any idea what season I am, much less what celebrities seasons are.

Re: Who is a Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn?

I can wear most colors as long as the undertone is blue......I used to think I couldn't wear red but then discovered that not all reds are the same...so if it has a blue undertone it works with my skin but if it has that yellow/orange undertone then it makes my skin all red/splotchy looking....I cannot wear oranges, peach, or corals...but can wear soft pinks.....bright neon colors especially lime green looks awful on me.   My best colors are jewel tones like saphire blue, emerald green, deep purple, garnet, jade, teal, etc.   I'm a red head with fair skin and pink undertone.

Re: Who is a Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn?

Many years ago they use to have parties for this. Like Tupperware parties, only it was to tell you what season you are.  There was a lady who came and through a process showed each of us what we were.

Started out by pulling  your hair back and putting a black towel around it so you couldn't  see it at all.

Then you drape either a white or off white cloth under your chin up over your shoulders. Standing back look and see which color looks best with you skin tone. This is best done in natural light because light bulbs case different color hues.

If you look better with white you are a warm.

If you look better in off white you are a cool. I don't know the difference between soft or deep. I'm a spring. Pale skin, Auburn hair, blue eyes.
