Not everything can be forgiven or should be forgiven. Abuse is something that comes to mind and in my world, it is unforgivable.

It doesn't mean the don't go to prison it means the victim does not carr the crime on them. , it means that person is FREE to go on without the weight of hurt.

Great in theory and I have heard it before but it doesn't work for everyone.

As the meme in the OP, all the judging, ridiculing, throwing stones, gossiping is just...emotional cancer. So incredibly toxic.

I agree with many...time heals a lot of wounds. Just removing yourself from the situation is good...and gives you a new perspective.

Time works for me in most cases as distance clears out the fog created by the emotions. Only one thing stuck around, and it cleared up just two weeks ago. I was watching a really bad Hallmark movie, and a line hit me like a lightening bolt. The closure came despite there being no way to get closure from the other person. it still shocks me that it happened that way.

EMOTIONS being the key word... If there is not that connection forgiveness is moot...IMO!

IF it was my younger brother that was singing on that bus THEN I would have to decide to forgive or not...

Forgiveness is often a process. The length of time it takes varies with the circumstances and the individual.

In additon, one can forgive a transgression(s) but that doesn't mean that someone has to continue to let the forgiven one abuse them. There is nothing wrong with putting a toxic person out of your life.

I think the word "forgive" itself can be a road block for many people. They hold a definition of "forgive" that just won't work for them.

Terms like "let it go" or "move on" are better to use and definitely much more acceptable to a lot of people.

I think more people are able to say they've moved on and let go.

From the personal definitions of "forgive" that I've read here, it sounds more like moving on and letting go than actual forgiveness.
