Who came up with this shipping policy?

I am placing an order with Big Lots for $96. They offer free shipping over $79. BUT it only applies to items that are shipped.

Two of my items are only available for local store pickup. The other is shipping only. Therefore I must pay $9.99 shipping. Not exactly motivating.

I called customer service and they offered me a one-time only courtesy free shipping. I accepted because they are unique items. (Big Lots bought Broyhill Furniture.)

Also, I really love this poster "Sea Off Satta in Saruga Province" which is on sale today for $2.50 if you are lucky enough to have it in stock locally. I am not.

Last week my Windows 10 laptop stopped letting me crop vertically. Any suggestions how to fix?

I have this issue with Walmart. I placed an order for pickup, and they want to ship some of the items to me with a shipping fee, naturally. Several times, they have pushed those items for same-day home delivery. I can't get home delivery because I live downtown on a main street with a locked building, and they leave them outside the building, and they get stolen.

Now anytime they want to ship items I just leave them off the pickup and run in and grab them. It kind of defeats the purpose of pickup.

@MG Chris   How do Fedex and UPS leave their packages? Also outside?

The UPS stores will give you a real 'street address' when you rent a box and they will accept delivery and hold packages for you.  A lifesaver for many of us.

we have a locked package room. All delivery people have a code to the building and to the package room. I don't know who gives them the code they all just seem to have it. I don't even know the code because we have a key fob to move around in our building. We have to swipe it to have access to move around inside our building.

@MG Chris   There's a place on the Walmart website to give an entrance code. That is, if you want them to have it. They will use it to leave your delivery indoors.

@PickyPicky3

I had a similar problem recently with Macy's.  I wanted to use a gift card to buy some linens and could only find them online, not in the store.

Macy's wouldn't ship them to my store where I could just pick them up.  They wanted to ship them to my home for a shipping charge, of course.

The problem was that Macy's didn't actually have the items shown on their website.  The order would have been shipped directly from the manufacturer to my home, with no involvement from them.

I chose something else.

Free shipping isn't a God-given right, but it should be!  LOL  Woman LOL

@Tinkrbl44 If you go in person to Macys and place the order with a sales associate they will deliver for free to your home. At least our Macys does this.

Re: Who came up with this shipping policy?

@PickyPicky3, thanks for the info. I'm not one who enjoys online shopping only to be told items X, Y, and Z are available at your store's location. I don't want to go to your store. I don't like the road to your location, I don't like your parking lot, or the store's narrow aisles. That's why I was shopping online.

It's a shame they don't credit you for the total in your cart.
