Re: Who Remembers These Stores.....

Stores I remember from my time living in the Seattle area:  Bon Marche, Jafco, Fredrick & Nelson, Lamont's, Nordstrom Place Two, Pay'N'Pak, Pay'N'Save, Ernst-Malmo, Chubby & Tubby, Prairie Market (you grabbed a grease pencil as you came in & marked the price on what you wanted, before putting it in your cart), Eagle Hardware.

Flaky Jake's had the best burgers.

I remember Higbee's in Ohio. Also I remember Sealfon's in Ridgewood, New Jersey. My daughter used to love the penny candy in the children's dept. and I loved that they used to wrap everything free of charge. Many a gift I gave from that store especially at Christmas.

Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelry store.....

Filene's in the Palisade Center, New York.

@caroln242  OMG, I'd forgotten about the "going steady" class ring wrapped with angora yarn. As host Courtney K would say, "how fun!" Thannks for reviving the memories from what my Gen Z friend would call the days of yore.

I remember almost all of these stores.

One of my first part time jobs, when I was in high school, was in the Woolworth on 34 th Street in Manhattan. It was right across the street from Macy's.

I worked on the second floor and was in the ribbon department. I learned how to add prices in my mind very quickly and accurately. Took me at least an hour on the train to get home to Brooklyn!

I don't remember the Woolworth on 34th St. - but I shopped at Macy's often. I went to the Woolworth on Utica Ave., Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
