Living in central Illinois has now developed a STENCH. LITERALLY
I wake in the morning and walk the beagle, and I tell you this morning that the
air smells like decay.
I agree, that the trees are shedding not in season but in dryness. Every leaf that is falling
is crispy and shriveled.
I also agree that to remember fall of ten years ago compared to today makes me sad
I can't water bc of the restrictions. It's all straw.
I practice EARTHING and go barefoot in my yard. But, the ground is so hardened and like rock and lumpy I have put my sandals on .

I'm guessing you live in the Northern tier. In the southern states, we have summer from June thru Oct.
@monicakm Yes NY where the winters are just too long. Too much cold and it stinks when you're all bundled up and dealing with snow and slush and whatever and then boo it's dark out at 4:30. ![]()

Well, it's not just the one hour time change. What's also happening is that the sun is lower .... lower below the equator which affects our daylight and the temperatures in our country.

Fellow night owl here......the summer is nice, the longer days too. But I love the cooler evening walks. In the summer, it is so humid you can't breathe as well. I have to water all my flowers every day and it gets tiring dragging a water hose in the heat.
I also keep the thermostat higher so my AC will catch a break.. so my sleep isn't as enjoyable. Those first really cool fall nights are the best! I could wake up with frost on my nose, and be snuggled in my bed!

You must live somewhere there is no flying insects waiting to suck your blood or bombard you, get up your nose, down your shirt, in your hair. That's what it's like sitting outside at night in Texas. Add in the heat and humidity to make it extra inviting lol
Hi @monicakm ! Oh, I know ALL about those flying insects- LOL! They particularly love DD. She can't move in the summer without getting bitten!
I'm from the south originally, and I lived in Texas too! I married someone from the northeast. We wanted to get closer to both families, so we compromised on the mid-Atlantic area. I have always lived on or around the ocean or the bay, except for a few short times in my life. I told him he could never take me away from one of those! ![]()

I love the fall winter. It suits my riot grrrrrl self.
Fall clothes are just so much more interesting and fabulous. Plus you get to layer and be cute in a jacket and even a hat!
I love the smell of fireplaces but California is regulating them more and more. Guess I stick with feu de bois candles.

so your daughter knows what it's like to be the center of attention to the local bug population. I feel her pain. My husband has been trying to get me outside at night all summer. I've had exactly two mosquito bites this summer and that was two too many.
