Re: Who Can Still Remember..........

Our phone number began with SO1 - for South of the city, district 1.

Mom and I would take a taxi (she didn't drive, although she worked) to Woolworths probably 4 times a year. She had her patty melt at the counter and I had my grilled cheese. If she had extra $$ after shopping at JC Penny's, we'd split a shake. One look from her and I knew I had twirled too many times on the counter stool.

I'll never understand why my bangs could be straight throughout the year but when it was picture time --- woah --- out came the perm and I had fuzzy bangs.

Re: Who Can Still Remember..........

I use mine as part of my passwords.  I also remember the phone number of my childhood best friend who lived down the street.  Funny tho that I can remember these numbers from many, many years ago, but I can't remember my home phone number in the former town I lived in 20 years ago.

I had tragic results each time my aunt insisted on giving me a Toni home perm. I hated it but everyone else made a fuss about how pretty I looked. I remember the horrid smell.

NOPE I don't remember the Monkees shoes, but I do remember my Beatles sneakers black and white with all their faces all over the entire sneaker! I was 6.  I also remember Paul's dead. My sister was screaming crying. I thought it was my next door neighbor Paul and I went hysterical 😩 crying. my mom had to explain that it was Ringo's friend Paul, not my neighbor 😝 Ringo was my favorite Beatle.

@KBEANS  I don't remember the Monkee shoes but I found that looking for the Thom McAn Liverpool T's shoes during the 1960's with the Beatle mania.  I couldn't find a pic but I still remember the jingle from the radio commercial.

Ringo was my favorite, too because John was married and Paul and George had girlfriends.  I figured I had a better chance with Ringo.  LOL

I remember one time when Paul McCartney was on David Letterman and DL asked Paul if he and the other Beatles were all nice to Ringo.  LOL

Did you mean the rumor that Paul was dead??  I remember conspiracies that Paul was dead and some were based on the album covers of Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road.

Thank you for this thread!  Did anyone have pop beads?  You bought them from a machine like a gum ball machine but they were these plastic beads that popped together.  Such great memories.

Re: Who Can Still Remember..........

My childhood number is my password for a couple things.  It was TO for Town Hall.  I remember our phone cord was really, really long and always a tangled mess.  But it was good for trying to get as far away as possible from your mother when talking to your friends lol.

@itsmetoo   I remember pop beads but I don't remember buying them in a machine.  Maybe in a bag?
