White Sands Missile Range notifies people in the area when they will be closing a highway for testing. This is a matter of our safety in case something goes awry. The area of this closure is close to the site where the first atomic bomb was detonated. Highway 380 is the route most people use to go to Albuquerque from our mountain area. They are closing 46 miles today.

The range begins on the South side of the road a few miles east of San Antonio. The Trinity Site is there, too.

@On It. Did you hear they suddenly closed the Trinity Site to visitors the day before its annual open house? Very strange, I thought. They blamed it on their budget. Like somebody just checked the checkbook and found it low on funds?

@Kachina624 I did not know they cancelled the tour. I think the crowd was supposed to be far larger than normal because of the "Oppenheimer" movie.

Yikes, at least they let people know ahead of time.

Could this have something to do with yesterday's warning by the FBI director about China's "pre-staging" cybersecurity attacks on American critical targets?
That's a scary warning. The attacks are all programmed and ready to go with just a click if necessary. That means some genius hacker could probably figure out how to do the click.

It's scary that we keep buying and have to buy things from China.

@PickyPicky3 I was not aware of the warning. These tests are routine. They also impact highway 70 from Alamogordo to Las Cruces. Stoppages are common. I thought those of you who did not know about them would like to see one of the notices. The tests are planned well in advance of test dates.

I love New Mexico, its beauty and its people--from three trips over the years. Most recently I appreciated the exhibits at Los Alamos a few years ago. The site was fully plugged in to national security. The people in NM have given much support )and made many sacrifices) to national safety.
Loved the Santa Fe Opera, too--open to the air and the beautitful vista of blue mountains beyond.
