Stupid humans in State Legislatures who don't enact laws to prevent importing wild animals. And dumb citizens who aren't lobbying for such laws to protect animals.

I will never understand why we can’t let animals be. It is just heartbreaking to me. We will not be happy until we destroy everything.

I read abt the ?stolen "special bearded monkey's" recently, so I'm kinda confused. Altho I dont know the latest after the "closet discovery."
*BUT* Did this "FL Facility" themselves, shoot & Kill this, their own, White Rhino?? Was this a White Rhino that they themselves asked for? wanted? requested? And the White Rhino wasnt sick in any degree?
Is this it?

I feel the same anger/rage about veal calfs, but that's not going to happen either, now is it?

@JoyFilled Warrior @Yes, they paid a supplier and bought the rhino. When it arrived they couldn't control it and keep it from breaking out of its containment space and continuing the behaviors in a second space. The owners wanted to return it to the supplier but they were not able to get control. An anonymous tip was made to Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission who then went in to investigate the complaint. The park had already buried the rhino when officials got there. The incident happened in September.

Thanks for responding!
My gosh, WHY didnt they contact other Zoos, like the gifted NY or San Diego Zoos.. Many, many, many other Zoos "repurpose" these wonderful animals, wild, misplaced, or not. These other Zoos have incredible Vets, Experienced Zoo Admin, methods of transportation, incl of outrageously large, acting out animals, staffed with Vets, Zoo Top Admin, Scientists,Grounds Keepers & Staff, appropriate for placement of ALL Animals. If they cant place them with them, the pull ALL their many connections to appropriately place these incredible animals elsewhere. And even make mating a priority so as not to lose the species!.
This is soo disgustingly cruel & wasteful,,forfeiting such animals when there's many super, experienced, capable, connected Zoo personnel, up & down the Zoo personnel, not to "waste" such precious, beloved animals, acting out Wild, or not..
Just breaks my everylov'n heart.
Thanks again for explaining, clarifying for me ![]()

I wonder if what might be missing is some kind of Central repository of all the Zoos, & frequent chats with Zoo Admins, personnel, so that nothing falls thru the Zoo, Animal cracks, when in their business, they have so much in Common, & so much unpredictable circumstances. let alone so many changes in climate, temps & even opportunities, goals & placement.
Maybe all these Zoo's & Animal's care facilities are not versed, or set up on Information Technology, so as to centralize & keep active, & USE a Centralized Database among *all of the Zoos." So in emergent situations, & problem solving, connections, ideas & solutions are widely available, &"quick at hand."
*thinking* hmmm
