From NBC Washington:
A Capitol police officer shot and injured a man who brought a weapon into the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center Monday afternoon, according to NBC News reporter Pete Williams.
Williams said two federal officials told him the officer said the man with the weapon pointed a gun at the officer, causing the officer to fire. The man was wounded, but not seriously, according to Williams.
There has been an isolated incident at the US Capitol. There is no active threat to the public

The man was taken to the hospital under police escort. No one else was injured in the incident.
The U.S. Capitol complex is locked down.
No one is allowed to enter or exit any of the buildings. Anyone outside is advised to seek cover immediately, U.S. Capitol police said.
Previously, the Associated Press reported it was the officer who was shot, but Williams said his sources say that was not the case.
