Which career search sites have been most useful to you?

[ Edited ]

Or have you used an alternative method, such as social networking, a recruiter or something else? Please and thank you.

Must agree about Indeed.com

Husband and friends found positions through this site, all commented that the companies who are on Indeed were very good about responding to applicants!

I was laid off in December, for my job searches I used Indeed and Glassdoor. I like them both. I feel both are user friendly. I like that they both have reviews of the companies. Glassdoor also lists the salary scales and benefits.

You can also post your resume for employers to view.

The crazy thing is the job I did get was from the State. Each day I would check the State, County and City job sites.

I made looking for a job my job, I would start each morning for a couple of hours.

I would also create job alerts.

Good Luck in your search.

I'm using Indeed.  I've found out that companies will also "throw a net" just to fill their pool of applicants when the job is filled.

When a job is filled and not taken down for days later it's so annoying.  I found this by following up with a call.

I've had an application in at one place since January and the position still "hasn't been filled"!

Try Craigslist. It's not a "career search site" but it does have job postings. It's inexpensive to use and if the employer doesn't have much of a recruiting budget, it's a good option.
