Women's Gymnastics (Artistic & Rhythmic) I enjoy the men's gymnastics but not as much as the women's.
Swimming/Diving
Some Track & Field
I loved Synchronized Swimming the first year they had it but then I've never seen it again. I'm not glued to the TV during the Olympics like I once was so I don't know if I've just missed it or if it's not been given much attention because there were no US medal contenders or what. I don't even hear it mentioned. I actually thought maybe it was a one and done sport that had been added then taken out or something.

Schedule for Artistic Swimming (previously called Synchronized Swimming), Paris 2024
(As a point of interest, 2024 was the first year the International Aquatics Federation would allow men to compete in the Olympic events. However, no qualifying country has a man on their team.)

We used to love it but now it's professional athletes basically and there's nothing I'll tune in to. Maybe equestrian events, but probably not even that.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes For the very first time, I've been watching the 2024 Tour de France. So far no spectacular bike crashes.
======================================
@Sooner The USofA does not support their athletes, reason why most if not all have gone professional/have sponsors in the 21st century. Otherwise, they depend on their families, their town, fundraisers, GoFundMe, etc for support.
Other countries support their athletes from the time they show "interest" and/or have the"talent" for a particular sport.
Russia & China start as soon as the child can walk, have sport schools, get an allowance, etc. Reason why they are "excellent" & were the first to score those 10s.
Like you, I miss the 20th century when all the USofA atheletes
were amateurs.

Hi @SportyShorty07 ! It was a lot of fun! Synchronized swimming was transitioning from the ballet style to the more athletic style. I could not have handled the more athletic style, but I liked the combination. We still did the surface/under water work, but for the actual routine we had music. We could hear it on top, then we had to keep time under. We were not professionals by any means!
I already liked being underwater. When I was young I challenged myself to make it one length of the pool underwater. My mom was a swimmer and "almost" qualified for the Olympic trials. So I was in the water very early in my life!
I did a routine for my children when they were young. They were less than impressed! ![]()

@beach-mom Hi Beach Mom! Thank you for your response, I love your post! so interesting to read and I can sense your passion for synchronized swimming in every sentence! My family adn I saw a synchronized swimming match when I was a kid and it was so exciting to see all of the swimmers do the routines. I remember looking at all of the sets of legs dancing outside of the water and thinking, "I hope I have long legs like that when I grow up!"
That must've been a really interesting transitional time for the sport to go from ballet inspired to more athletic. It amazes me how you have to coordinate your breathing, timing, and dance routines with other girls while the sound is hear underwater- talk about multi-tasking.
That is so cool that your mom almost made it to the olympic trials! You have the gift of swimming in your genes. It takes a lot of lung power to do the whole length of a pool in one breath. I think you get major cool-mom points for doing a routine for your kids ![]()
! I'll give you a perfect 10 and gold medal
I was on my high school varsity wrestling team all throughout high school and I really wish I could've joined a neighboring college's wrestling team. I found my wrestling shoes the other day
