I don't see that as being the opinion here at all.  And I see no evidence in my day-to-day life that the American flag is not as important as it used to be.

 

Most of the posters here have pointed out that the American flag was present at this graduation.  There were many American flags, as well as the singing of the National Anthem.  That sounds patriotic and appropriate to me.
