The backpack would certainly have damage by now after being submerged in water.
I doubt the father tossed a new backpack with tags still attached.
It would make more sense that Brian himself tossed it before he moved on, knowing it would be in the water for some time before being discovered.
Or he is deceased and his remains also surfaced when the water receded.

yes the whole story is strange.. i could for sure see brian planting evidence.. but finding remains with it makes me think sadly it is his.. if it was just his backpack and the notebook i would be happier, thinking he's still out there... but his remains, makes me think this is over. i just dont get that they open the reserve and 2 or 3 days later the water goes down and they find reamins.. yes it would of been under water.. but with all the searching they did, they still didn't uncover his "remains" under the water??? makes no sense to me? alot of people are saying something doesn't seem right... after all this watching i have been doing for weeks on end, i dont want it to end like this lol i at least want answers as we all do...

Haven't really followed this story but won't DNA testing determine whether it's Laundrie or not? Until that takes place, I think he staged his own death and is now somewhere else with his parents help. Truth is stranger than fiction, for sure!!!

im off of work today and watching alot of news on this case.. because im so hooked lol... how did the parents know where to go to? they said the dad was there yesterday, and knew where to walk to off the path and thats where he found the backpack.. so he just walks off the path and there is the evidence? seems so strange... if it was put there when they opened it back up doesnt make sense because his remains were there.. omg this whole case is so messed up lol

He could have planned this whole thing before they left on the trip. Maybe the "remains" were there first? Maybe he found them and thought "Hey! That could be me?"
Now that sounds like one of those tv shows. . .

I think he's been dead for a little while. I think he died before the water covered the area. Then the water covered his body and personal items.
Or he was walking or seated or sleeping on a dry area and unfortunately got dragged by an alligator into the area with water, covering what remained of his body and items. No one deserves that kind of end. Gabby didn't deserve her end either. Both things can be true.
Edited to add: People do not have access to dead bodies like they do in movies. That is very far fetched in my opinion.

I want to know why he killed Gabby. What would make a man so mad to kill his fiance...the only thing that comes to mind is she wanted to break up with him. Why else?
If he is dead, the world will never know why unless he told his parents...but they would never confess or else they would be charged with "withholding evidence."

im watching this and its very odd that the father just walks into the woods and all of a sudden finds a bag... ok, no authrities are right with them.. but his dad just picked up the bag didnt even call or text on his phone and wait for them to get there?? he picked up the bag with his "bare hands" isnt that evidence?? and walks it to the cops... now it just came out that the found skelton remains... i also just heard maybe they planted this evidence when he dropped off the car? but that doesnt explain the bones being found.. im way to caught up in this lol my only day off and im watching this all day.. sooooo much doesn't make sense.

@bonnie f You're way overthinking this. They aren't telling us everything they know. The authorities aren't stupid. They will figure it out.
