According to CNN online, the backpack and notebook had been submerged in water, hopefully there is a confession in the book, but it's obvious, to me, that he did. He is the cookie cutter sicko who controls his significant other, she was leaving him, as I understand it, and you know the rest, if he couldn't have her, no one would.

Is it possible his parents planted the personal items and "remains," or is law enforcement too smart for that?

It's not odd at all. The belongs are his and they said he went into that nature preserve and that's they saw of him. If remains are his then they were telling the truth and he was missing. They would want closure.

@ValuSkr What type of "remains" could they plant??
I can see personal items but I do not think they would go that far.
Brian himself could have left that backpack and notebook.
He could have had another backpack ready to be used and dropped one to throw off investigators.
Very bizarre turn of events.

@goldensrbest I didn't see the other thread but I'm not surprised because we end up with too many.
Now we have yet another one started and this thread was doing just fine with the latest updates.
It gets confusing.

@bonnie f Who is saying this? From what I have seen the investigators are waiting for autopsy results to make that determination.
Where have you heard that "most are 90% sure'??
The area had been underwater so the items were only discovered after the water had receded.

Could it be that his parents have been in touch with him by using those throwaway phones (is that what they call them?) but then he no longer contacted them because he met a disastrous end? Eaten up by anxiety, perhaps that is why they decided to search the trail favored by Brian. All along, he may have promised to stick close to that trail so that they would not worry excessively.
Aware that they are probably being shadowed by the FBI wherever they go, the parents alerted the FBI today of their intention to search for their son at the reserve and requested help.
It may be that, for the first time, Brian's parents actually had to worry about whether he was dead or alive in the last few days. Not having heard from him, they understandably became anxious.
Speculation, of course. I'm trying to make sense of all the crazy.

i have been following this for 3 weeks everyday.. almost all day, except when working... i watch live feeds on youtube.. its very interesting. go there and look. they take calls, talk to people and go over everything.. everyone is saying it has to be his.. the remains were found with some of his belongings.. some said the parents planted some of it etc... they are being watched wherever they go, how could they do it.. and howi in the heck would they get his remains... they interview past cops, federal investigators etc, and they said we wont know for awhile, it took weeks with gabbys remains, these were in bad shape, will take longer... so from what im hearing most think it has to be him,, trust me, i want them to find him alive, i want answers!!! but this isn't looking good.. this case has been my life the past 3 weeks lol... the casey anthony case i followed also... but i'm afraid with this case, we wont get any answers.

Yes, i do find it very strange ,his dad found the back pack.

It was odd that the VERY DAY his parents went to look for their son, his belongings were discovered (and by them).
I would not be surprised if the autopsy reveals that an alligator attack was the cause of death. Agreeing with John Walsh that he was too much of a coward to do that to himself.
