Used to think the remote was for lazy people - Now, it's been years since I changed the channel manually!

Me TOO, lol. I tsk tsk'd the folks that couldn't even walk across the room to change the channel. Now it is an emergency if we don't have the batteries needed to get it working.

I'm assuming you have cable...you can look up (online) how to program your remote so it will also control the volume. Or you could just use the TV remote for the volume. Anything to not have to get up lol

I have to turn off the TV by the power button on the set quite a bit. My SweetieBear dh often walks off with the remote in his pocket or tucked in his waisteband (like a pistol, lol) with the volume blaring. I can't find the volume control on the set, or the channel changer thingy either. So I just turn the dang thing off!

Funny - last week my remote stopped working on one of the TV sets, and I had to physically turn it off ... I had to get the flashlight to find the on/off control.

I haven't a clue where the channel selector is.

Re: When was the last time you physically got up and changed the TV channel on the TV...

Funny you should ask. Just last night I had to get up and turn the tv on. My remote controls both the TV and cable box with one on/off button. Well, last night I got into bed and got all comfy, hit the on button, and only the cable box came on. Grrrrr. I hit the off button, now the cable box goes off, but the tv comes on. double grrrrr. I hit the off button again and now tv goes off and cable box came on. Grrrrrrrrr. So then I got up out of bed and went over to the tv and turned it on.

But back in the day, I WAS the remote at our house. My parents would call for me to come change the channel. I'd be on the second floor, they on the first, and they be yelling for me to come down, LOL.

My TV is mounted over the fireplace. I have to move things from the hearth to even reach it and it doesn't even have buttons. It have those touch pads which I need a flashlight to even see the various controls. it's been years since I physically changed a TV channel.

You cant, ours works through the dvr remote. But I do get up and down to hit volume on our surround sound bar because that remote broke last year.

....... uh... 1986? Let me think.... no it was later than that. I think the last time I changed the channel manually was ..... closer to 1989. I still had a TV with the turn dial on it.
