Maybe seeing or thinking about an old product or food or anything really that makes you wax nostalgic........ Anything lately that will either set off your waterworks or cause you to remincise about someone or something?
I was grocery shopping this morning and I was in the snack aisle, (imagine that!) and I saw Jiffy Pop next to all the other popcorn. I used to love it when my mom would buy it for us as a treat. Usually she made us popcorn either in a pot on the stove or with a popcorn machine. This was way before microwaves.
We used to love to watch the foil grow as she shook the handled pie plate on the stove. Of course, the bottom kernels got burnt.... It wasn't necessarily the best popcorn but just like its slogan said, "as much fun to make as it is to eat.". 🍿
I just remember fondly when my mom or dad would fix it for us. Just like Chicago sings, 🎵 "Old Days". 🎵 ❤

@SloopJohnB We did the Jiffy Pop thing too as kids.
Also If I see a reference to Aqua Net. After Mom got done spraying her "do" it would withstand gale force winds. My sister and I joked there was a hole in the ozone above our house.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Oh, yes, Aqua Net...... My mom would use that! My aunt would use Adorn. 😊

Music is a big trigger for me to wax nostalgic. Early Beatles especially, or anything to do with the British Invasion.
Jiffy Pop was so futuristic (or so it seemed) at the time. Popping and watching the big aluminum mushroom cloud grow until it was ready. Certain TV shows that are now showing up on METV also take me back. The old Carol Burnetts, Ed Sullivan and his guests, etc...
I'm guessing the best age for me was between 1 and 10 years old. No problems, no worries, just school and playing w/neighborhood kids, family suppertime, etc...So my best years were from '58 - '68. I think it was the Manson family that brought me down and gave me a lesson about how life might be. All downhill from there. ![]()

Although we had fruit and veges in the fridge my mom also stocked the house with junk food. Sugar cereals, Hostess baked goods, always buttered our bread for sandwiches (which were Oscar Mayer bologna salami or liver wurst). Our school lunches were one of those gross sandwiches on white bread, chips and cookies. None of us were overweight probably because we spent all day running or riding our bikes around the neighborhood.
One thing that sticks out is Nestle Quik in Chocolate, Strawberry and Banana . We would mix up different concoctions.

@scatcat Oh I remember the banana flavored Quik.... I think they stopped making that one, as I haven't seen it in years. 🍌. I remember having to open the lid on Quik with a spoon or some kind of silverware. 🍴 😊

To this day, I miss Patio TV dinners. They were Mexican food frozen dinners on an aluminum tray. The dinner that was my favorite had 2 cheese enchiladas, 3 tiny beef tacos, rice, and beans.
We would cook our TV dinners, take them into the family den, and eat on TV trays. It was a family event that only happened once in a while. How I wish I could have that experience one more time!

@kelsey17 That is a great memory. My uncle who lived in NY brought us sweatshirts with the World's Fair logo on them when he flew down to visit us in Florida.

Twin Popsicles (grape & cherry) from the chest freezer at the corner grocery store.
I have a stack of Jiffy Pop in my pantry. I make my own popcorn the old school way. When lazy I'll pull out one of the Jiffy Pops from the pantry
