There are many public figures that I admire, but in my case I would not use the word, "worship". It is tough to see them fall, especially if they're one of your role models, but they're human and are just as apt to fall as anyone else.

Nicely put, TG. Does anyone really worship celebs? No one I've ever known.

How many times do I have to say I used the wrong word? "Worship" is taken in the pure religious sense on this BB and I always forget that. I should have used the word "admire."

For me Bill Cosby and Tiger Woods falls from grace were more disappointing than Brian Williams. BW as an important job but after Dan Rathers who can be surprised what any press person would sink to.

Oh my, how could I forget Tiger. I never watched golf until he came along and did not watch tournaments that he was not in. Yes, that was a big shock to me. But he is paying for it, he's never come back from what he once was.

I have forgotten what Dan Rather did.

The only hero I ever had in my life was my dad, and he still is. He NEVER fell from grace. I never needed any other hero.

There are people in my personal life that I love dearly, that I know have done (continue to do) wonderful things for others. I don't know any of them who are perfect however - just as good as they can be. That's enough for me to be inspired by them.

As for those known to me only because of their public persona, I have assumed for years and years that what I know is their public persona, not who they truly are. For the hugest percentage of people I know from that remove, I believe the vast percentage of them are essentially good ----and nearly none who are perfect.

I expect clay feet. What I still can't understand or abide is evil.

While I wasn't a huge fan, I was surprised whenTiger's life was destroyed by his stupidity. Game-wise he has never recovered.

I don't think Dan Rather should have been let go over that incident:/

Geez people. "Hero Worship" is a common expression. I get it, Ford. It's disappointing when people we admire and respect fall from grace and fail in our eyes.

Some commit actual crimes other a lack in judgement or lie about their job or achievements. These transgressions are certainly not equally awful, imo.

I give Brian Williams a pass, for example. I condemn Paterno and Sandusky to he11 and back as an opposite example.
