As a young 20 something, I attended the Preakness every year at Pilmilo, but in the infield mainly to party.  One year, we were invited back to the Paddock where the horses were kept because someone I worked with in the office, worked for one of the horse trainers as a part time thing. Let me say this to you...these horses live better than a lot of human beings. And this was just a temporary set up amd it was a long time ago before the animal rights people checked stuff out. These are very very expensive horses, specifically bred for racing. Their living quarters are unbelievable. Nowadays, these animals are treated like royalty. The only thing they are enduring is a life of luxury.
