You're visiting family members - having some dinner and conversation.
When do you know it's time to leave? How long do you usually stay?

About 2 minutes after they start yawning.

It's family and you have to ask Community Chat when is it a good time to leave after visiting and dinner?

Usually when someone says, "...well, I have to go to work...", or, "...I have to get up early tomorrow...", and the like. No big deal in my family.

Hi, Mellie....this is a very good question...one i have asked myself...I am more of a stay at home person..so the only visiting I do is with family....i usually leave about an hour after we have had dinner....dessert...cleaned up the dishes....by that time the host is tired and ready for everyone to get out...haha....i never hear them say to any of us...oh whats your rush...or do you have to leave so soon....hahaha.....I leave even sooner then that if someone else gets up to go...i leave on their coattails....

This one puzzled me before I clicked on it. I thought....
Leaving husband/wife?
Leaving this world?
Leaving work?
Leaving family members, though .....depends on how well you like the family. If you are anxious to leave as soon as you get there - then why go at all?

It depends, but usually an hour after eating.

When they start dragging out the photos of their latest vacation, then it's time to go!

When Uncle Joe starts telling his seriously filthy and off-color jokes.

LOL...I completely agree! I notice at family gatherings there are stages of the event...pre dinner, dinner, after dinner...personally, I'm ready to leave within 1/2 hr of dessert and can do so if I drive myself; HOWEVER, if I'm driven to an event I know I'm in for a LONG night...regardless of any "hints" I may offer, others (especially with young children) drag out the conversation beyond what I believe is appropriate and, yes, photo albums of vacations often appear...
