When and where did you find out the shocking truth about the birds and the bees?
I think this could be discussed without getting too graphic.
Did your parents tell you?
I was in about fifth grade when I heard the whole story - my maternal unit didn't tell me anything of course - I heard it at school.
Anyway, I was shocked and rather perplexed.
Later on that year, there was a rumor going around school that one of my schoolmates was expecting a little of puppies!
The funny thing was, I didn't know whether to believe it or not!!!! LOLOL

I lived on a farm and it was kind of obvious. But the official "people" version was probably in 5th grade biology. Just the facts, ma'am.

I honestly don't remember how old I was, but an older girl filled me in. I didn' quite believe her, ( LOL) , so I asked my mom and she confirmed the basics. My mom was great.

I always seemed to know. It was never a shock, confusion. I was more curious about animals like dogs & cats. They would get pregnent with each mating. Over & over. They could get pregnant while they were already pregnant. In theory produce 10 kittens all from 10 fathers. I remember asking my mother why humans did not operate like that. She said humans don't need that form of survival. We had brains.

I remember my exact thought; "Why would anybody want to do that?" ![]()
I was very puzzled by the entire thing.

As I recall, I think I was in the 5th grade, and a schoolmate told me to go up to the luch lady and ask her what a certain hand gesture ment. With one hand make a circle with the thumb and forefinger, and then take the forefinger of the other hand and insert it into the circle.
I did, and the shocked lunch lady told me to go home and ask my mother.
I did.
She told me all about the facts of life, male parts, female parts, periods, tampons, pads, pregnancies, and how to prevent them, and, she even showed me what a profolatic looks like, and how it is applied.
Afterwards, I thought that they made very neat balloons! *lol*

*********** LOL.... I thought the same thing. It was the 5th or 6th grade and kids were talking about animals mating. One kid said that people did the same thing. I went home and asked mom if it was true and she said "yes....but only after you are married". Remember this was the 50's! I told her.... "then I'm NEVER getting married"!
