I only buy multiples of things I use and like. For instance, I buy multiples of cotton T-shirts at LLBean because it's something I wear daily. They get a lot of use.

Yes I have bought multiples of certain kinds of gemstone jewelry and here's why.

Certain gemstones, for instance opals, are not all the same. In other words what you see on TV might not look like the one that arrives at your house. So I bought three opal bracelets, all the same item number and when the three opal bracelets arrived at my house I got to look at them in-person and decided to keep 'the one'. The other two were sent back and I got the perfect one to keep. I was happy that I got to see differences between the three bracelets and my decision was easy to make from there.

I've bought multiples of some things, but not because a host encouraged me to do so. For example, I bought a LDO topper that I liked so much that I went back on line and bought the other colors. Or as @SilleeMee I have bought several of a gemstone item to get a choice of which to keep. Or if I do plan on gifting something I may pick up several but still not because of a host encouraging to do that.

NO. If it is something I might want which is rare I would look up the item in Amazon and hopefully get the best price for one.

@Goodie2shoes : No way. But once purchased multiples on HSN. Host wasn't pushing multiples. It was a Wolfgang Puck electric knife with a handle. This really helps when slicing greasy items.
