I also noticed the price of bread has gone up. My son likes one certain brand and type of bread for sandwichs.

The bread used to go on sale at least once a month or so. Now iI rarely goes on sale. So I end up paying $4.89 for a loaf of bread.

The US and Canada import 0 wheat.

We are self sufficient but shortages on the world market mean there is a huge financial incentive to export more than usual.

@SeaMaiden   Which tend to be the "bad" carbs types of foods.

I don't know how some are surviving.

The United States imports a relatively small amount of wheat grain from Canada.

Talk abt the price of fertilizer 's impact on the upcomming food prices .

Many farmers are asking  that they need to import fertilizers from other countries  rather than  Russia .

The problem is fertilizer - which is made from natural gas - which we are trying to eliminate here.

So no we are not self sufficient - although we could be.

Good time to go gluten free and plant a victory garden.

Flour in general is very bad for the human body. It's almost as bad as refined sugar. Both raise your insulin and blood sugar levels while increasing your fat storage.

I treat foods made with flour as being similar to candy. I eat them at times, but in moderation.

I bought a 10-pound bag of King Arthur flour when I last shopped at Costco.  Should hold me for a while if I vacuum-seal and freeze.
