Re: Whats the most unusual name you ever heard?

[ Edited ]

A girl I worked with ...her name was Eloy  ( I think she spelled it Eloi)..sounded out as spelled.  She said her father named her when he was stoned....after a Hobbit character in the book.  I has the hardest time remembering her name as I had never heard such a name.

My my husband worked with a man named Peter  D*I*C*K..that must have been awful growing up .....

I knew a boy named Ova. Not kidding. I'm like doesn't the family know an Ova is an unfertilized egg?

I had a student from South Korea once and his name was Hung Dong.

Another teacher had a student named Pajamas ( she pronounced it peyjamahs).  She said her mother saw the 'name' in the Sears catalogue and liked it.

In my community, there was a women's garden club that reported its activities in the local paper.  This was in the days when the ladies used their husband's names and were referred to as a "Mrs. John Smith ".   I always found it odd when Mrs. Harry Butt was mentioned.

Re: Whats the most unusual name you ever heard?

I can think of a TON of current students whose names are very unusual.

But I'll mention a student I had when I was student teaching.  Her name was Careagain because her mother began to "care again" after giving birth to her.
